ASD Foundation Receives Large Donations

The ASD Foundation has been putting monetary donations that they've received back into the Armstrong School District since its inception.  There are many reasons for why they’ve been able to contribute to the education of our youth and recently the ASD Foundation received large donations from many businesses that have helped fund many projects in the form of ASD Teacher Grants and projects that qualify for EITC and STEM monies.

Recently a large donation helped fund a new state-of-the-art WeatherBug station that will be installed at West Shamokin High School in Rural Valley in the coming weeks.  This will replace a previously installed WeatherBug station that no longer is functional.  The uses for this station are very widespread.  Local news stations will be able to pull the camera up when they are giving weather reports, as they currently do with other schools in their viewing area, but it will also serve as a learning tool district wide and be able to serve grades K-12 with various aspects of the new weather station.  This particular project was made possible by GenOn Energy, who donated the entire amount needed of $19,680!

The ASD Foundation would also like to acknowledge other businesses who have donated large sums of money over the last several years.  Without their help, and the continued support of both the ASD staff and faculty and community agencies, such as these, many of the innovative projects that students are exposed to would not be possible.
